A somewhat interestiftg case affect* ing the issue of publicans' licenses, will engage the attention of Mr. W. Poynton, S.M., in the MastertoarCourthouse to-morrow. mornings Some time ago Mr B. Douglas, of} this town, who until recently helcf the license of the Taratahi Hotel, ap-*' plied for a certificate of fitness to hold the license of the Masonio Hotel in Falmersfon North. This applica* tion was not' granted, presumably onj the report of the police. In a Su* preme Court decision (Douglaa v* Dyer) given in Auckland, it wag held that the applicant was entitle*! to have an inquiry into the grounds! for his certificate of fitness being re* fused.
