SIR WILLIAM HALL-JONES.

Tho news of the appointment of Sir William Hall-Jones to a seat in the Legislative Council will, we feel sure, be received with very general satisfaction. It had been persistently rumoured of late that Sir William intended becoming a candidate for the Hawke's Bay seat at the general election. Evidently, however, he has preferred the less strenuous life of a "Lord," and his acceptance of nomination at the hands of the Massey Government is an indication that his sympathies are, at anyrate, with the movement for the reform of that Chamber. We congratulate the Government upon its selection, and Sir William upon his return to the arena of politics.
