THE JUDICATURE.
The introduction of a Judicature Bill in the House of Representatives, to strengthen the Supreme Court Bench of the Dominion, will not come as a surprise. For some years past the work of the Courts has been more than the present Bench of J-udges could conveniently deal with, and several of the older Judges have been perilously near breaking down under the strain. It was not many months ago that Judge Edwards commented upon the fact that he and his fellow Judges were being over-worked. The people of the Do-ninion do not, we think, desire that its judiciary should be called upon to make sacrifices of health in the performance of their duty. For this reason, we believe that the proposal to strengthen the Bench will meet with very general approval.
