SOLTANO WINS STAKES.
(Received Last Night, &2Q. o'clock/- . SYDNEY, October 6. Bright weather prevailed for the second day of t&e A.J.C. meeting. The attendance equalled that of Saturday. '■■■■
The feature of the day was Sol•tano's performance, : as; from the' barrier rise the issue was beyond doubt. Results:—
Shorts, six furlongs.-rGoldem Hop 1, Nuware Eliya 2, Aweenee 3. Twelve started including Valido, who was badly left. Won by a long hoadi a quarter of a length between second and third. Time, lmin 14Jsec. Clifton Stakes.—Soltano (A. Oliv■w)» I) ißadnor 2, Andelosia 3. Five starters. : Sohtano led throughout and, finishing strongly, won by half a length, wijth Andelosia a length away. SSfsec. The time is half a second above .Perkeo's - Australasian record.
Metrepolitim "Handicap.—Cagou 1. Alured 2, Aurifer 3. Thirty-three started. . Cardonia, Beragoon, Zeus, Woolerina and Valido were It was a fine race. Cagou, the winner, was always prominent, and won without, whip or ' spur. Emperador (C. Emerson) was among the leaders right to the straight entrance, after which the severe pace told and he faded out. . Won by five lengths with one length separating second and third. Time, 2min 32|sec, equalling Comedy King's Australasian record. Steeplechase.—-Wadden 1, Belenus - Thirteen started, including Gfcnmore, The Native and ■HautapUj Glenmore lost his rider and Hautapu ran .off. Won by four lengths. Time, smin 22jsec.
