THE AMERICAN TARIFF.
UNEXPECTED COMPLICATIONS. (Received Oct. 2.1 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 1. Unexpected complications are likely to delay the Tariff Bill. Senator Reed is leading the Opposition to certain amendments already agreed to by both Houses, the Opposition declaring that they require! further consideration by the Senate before being finally adopted. A controversy over cotton futures is likely to further delay the passage of the measure.
DEMOCRATIC SENATORS. AGREE TO ADOPT THE BILL. (Received Last Night, 10.40 o'clock.) WASHINGTON, Oct. 2. After a heated caucus, a session of Democratic Senators agreed to adopt the Tariff Bill asi it had left the conferences. EFFECT ON COTTON INDUSTRY. (Received "Last Night, 10.40 o'clock.) NEW YORK, Oct. 2. Mr James Reynolds, President of the National Association Cotton Manufacturers, declared that the Wilson Tariff Bill will impose intolerable burdens on the cotton industry. Only the most efficient factoties will escape extensive curtailment in their output.
