WAIRARAPA HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

ORDINARY MEETING. The ordinary meeting of members of the "Wairarapa Hospital and "Charitable Aid Board was held in the board's offices yesterday, there being present Messrs E. G. Eton (chairman), W. Fisher, W. Moore, V. Moore, F. W. Rummer, J. Dawson, A. J. Speedy, J. H. Murray-Jackson, A D. McLeod, H. Cornelius, J. D. Wilson, J. C. Ewington. The treasurer's statement showed receipts for the period amounting to £1786 15s 7d and expenditure £BSO 2s 2d. The credit balance at date was shown to be £2009 9s 2d. A letter was xead from Mrs Allen, of Eketalruna, withdrawing her offer in regard to accommodation for a district nurse. —Received. The report of the Finance Committee was read and adopted, with certain amendations. On the motion of Mr Fisher, it was decided that a Carterton resident be forwarded to the Cambridge Sanatorium for a period of two months. An account for £5 13s 6d in connectk>H with attendance on a man named Reading, who had been admitted to *he Mastorton Hospital from Tinui, was referred to the Caetlepoint County Council for- payment. A communication was received from the Greytown Borough Council, covering accounts for medical attendance on a patient at Greytown by instruction of the health inspector. —A good deal of discussion took place on the subject, and it was eventually, decided, on the motion of Mr McLeod that the accounts be referred back to the Greytown Borough Council, with an intimation that this board, by resolution, has delegated the powers to Hisburse local charitable aid to local bodies; ~the board, however, is of opinion that "the payment of excessive fees to doctors and nurses is going to enormously increase the cost of charitable-aid to, the Dominion. The report of the sub-committee set up to inquire into hospital administration generally, which recommended a reversion to the old order of things,,, in which each matron had control of her own hospital, was approved. The reports of the Hospital ancCharitable Aid Committee, tb-» 1> chanan Home Committee, and the Distract Nursing Committee, were read and adopted. Mr T. V. Moore and other members expressed surprise that the minutes of the meetings of the sub-committees had, not been furnished to members.: •--The secretary . read the resolution dealing with the master, "which^show- ; ed that the Central Committee hadmerely been requested to go into the question of furnishing the reports. — It was decided, on the motion of Mr. Moore, that the reports of all subcommittees, with correspondence, be,, supplied to members at least seven, days before board meetings, ( On themotion of Mr Wilson, it waS decided that the interchanging of nurses and probationers be made only on instructions from the secretary of. the board.
