SOCIAL NEWS AND FASHIONS.
(By "Ma rguerite.")
Miss Clare Lumsden, of Foxtpa, is on a short visit to Masterton. Mrs M. Bygum, of Matahiwi, Masterton, has returned from a visit to her parents, Rev. and Mrs Raeburn, of Wairoa. The marriage takes place at Masterton next month of Miss Annie Lechner to Mr Gilbert Noble. The resignation of Miss Maud Hayward as matron of the Masterton Hospital will be sincerely regretted by many personal friends. Miss Hayward's mother, who is in Christcliureh, is seriously ill, and requires constant nttention. This alone is responsible for the step taken by the matron, who leaves immediately for tho south. The dancing,,hockey, and golf seasons being now practically finished, the young ladies of Masterton are looking forward to summer sport. The Tennis Club is likely to be very strong this year.
