CABLE NEWS,

(United Press Association—By Ekt~ trie Telegraph*—Copyright)-)

DISCOVERY AT AN HOTEL. BOY DEAD; MOTHER UNCONSCIOUS. (Received October 1, 10 LONDON, Sept, 30. A woman named Mrs Cowe was discovered in an unconscious condition in the room of an hotel «fc King's Cross, in which was also found the dead body of her son Alec, * Bluecoat Schoolboy. The cause of the boy's death and the illness of Mrs Cowe were apparently due to chocolates containing morphia that had been eaten by The" two. The discovery has been responsible for the revelation of a remarkable family tragedy. Mrs Cowe'e husband, who was a eilk merchant at York, previously drowned himself in a. bath, owing to business trouble. The eldest son, William, committed suicide by'turning on the gas in a room, ami '< the boy Alec then narrowly escaped death, as William had placed the tube from the gas bracket under the .clothes on the bed in which the two slept. The mother, apparently determi°ed,to give Alec a final.good time, came to London a fortnight ago; .and took him for a daily taxicaß drive and to the theatre every evening. She then gave him the poisoned chocolates. : ' • The mother is likely to recover.
