The Wellington Education Board on Tuesday accepted the resignation of Mr Lockwood, secondary assistant at Eketahuna. Mr Hayhurst, of Woodville, who is well known in Masterton, has been removed to the Pahiatua Hospital in a very critical condition. Mr D. M. Yeats, headmaster of the Hutt District High School, who was at one time stationed at Pahiatua, is retiring from the service of the Wellington Education Board. Mr F. W. G. Herdman, manager of Messrs Dalgety and Go's. Hamilton branch, a.nd a brother of the AttorneyGeneral, has been appointed New Zealand manager for the Bristol and Dominions Producers' Association. Mr A. Tunnicliffe; 'df Dalefield, (Who has lately been residing in Gishorae), has been appointed to a position on the staff of the Methodist Mission in New Britain, and will leave on Friday, en route for his new positon. The death occurred at Te Ore Ore yesterday of an old resdent of the Masterton district in the person of Mrs Cavanagh, wife of Mr James Cavanagh. The deceased, who was fifty years of age, had been ailing for some time The funeral will leave St.* Patrick's Church at 2 p.m. tomorrow for the Masterton cemetery. At the meeting of the Wairarapa Hospital and Charitable Aid Board yesterday, a letter was read from Miss Maud Hay ward, tendering her resignation as matron of the Masterton Hospital, owing to sickness iu her fa nily, and asking that she be relieved as soon as possible. The chairman stated that the matron had been in charge of the hospital for three years, and had done good work. Her mother's illness was Ihe fole reason for her resignation. On the motion of Mr W. Fisher, it was decided that the resignation be accepted with regret, and that Miss Hayward be granted a month's leave on full pay and be given a testimonial. Dr Archer Hosking, the medical superintendent, stated that he had arranged for senior nurse Wilkinson to take charge of the hospital until a successor to Miss Hayward is appointed,
