AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE.
CURTAILING NAVAL VOTES. 'Times'—'Sydney Sun' Special Cables. (Received Last Night, 7.10 o'clock.) LONDON, Sept. 30. The Australian correspondent of the Times suggests that' the Liberals propose to curtail the naval votes in, order to check the development of Henderson's scheme. The Times, commenting on the question, says that a little more or less expenditure is not of much significance to observers at a distance. "What is certain," tho Times adds, "is that Australia has set herßelf manfully to the task of national defence. The maval problem in the Pacific can only be gradually solved by a joint conference in Britain of all British Pacific communities."
