MR TOM WILFORD.
Mr Tom Wilfordv tie versatile member for the Hutt, has distinguished himself during the past few weeks for the industrious manner in which he has pursued the Minister of Education over the appointment of Mr Boyd Garlick. One would think, from the force of his denunciation, *hat Mr Wilford was one of those politicians of the Caesar's wife description—a man who is above reproach. It is true , that he was never invested with the power."oi patronage that was possess- . Ed by prior to the passing of ! the Pfiblie Service Act. But, can Mr Wilfoird he has never, on any occasion, used his political influence for the benefit of bis supporters or friends? Has he never secured a position for a supporter in the Petone workshops, or in tne Government Printing Office, or in any other Department? Has he set his face consistently and indignantly against ! the making of publio* appointments without applications being called by advertisement ? Has he been so conspicuously clean in all his political dealings that he can afford to point : the finger of scorn at those who make J' mistakes? Or, is he simply playing the part of the political Pharisee?
