In the sethoclist Church, Carterton, on Thursday,, a pretty and popuiar wedd ing ■ was celebrated by ; the \ la Sayer, only daughter of Mr arid Mrs Ch,as. Sayer, of Dalefield, was united with Mr Bert Standen, youngest' son of Mr and Mrs John Standen, also otf Dalefield. The bride was attended by Miss Annie Arcus (chief), and Misses Isla Standen (sister of the 'bridegroom), and' Rita Sorensen (niece of the bridegroom) as bridesmaids. Mr Viti Ashton was best man, and Mr Jack Jenkins (Martinborougb) was Sir Joseph Ward motored through trom Wellington to Napier on Thurs flay, to endeavour to be present at the funeral of the late Sir William Russell. Unfortunately, however, his motor "car encountered seveial r fibs of- cattle, and he did not arrive at Napier until 4.30 o'clock in the af-. ternoo^
