EAST COAST NOTES.
Our Own Correspondent. The Te Wharau Rifle Club held a slidot for a trophy presented by Walton Kummer Esq., at Te Wharau on Saturday last, over -three ranges of 300, 600 and 700 yards. Twenty-five members took part, and under a very tricky rear-wind, the shooting was very moderate. The best shooti of the day was registered by H. W. Mason, who, under tfye worst of conditions, put on the creditable score of 25 at 700 yards. The match was won* by R. Venneil, with W. Reeves second, and G. Cox third. ' The conditions were so bad that the best shots of the club went to pieces at .700 yards. Continuous winds and fine weather continue on the coast, , and the spring grass is coming on well. Stock generally appear to be well forward. The docking season has comfnenced on the coast, and on the majority of stations a higher percentage of lambs than usual are expected.
