CARTER! ON STOCK SALE. Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co. Ltd. (late Jas. Macintosh and Co.) I report having held their usual fortnightly stock sale in thoir Carterton ! sale yards on Friday, Sept. 19th, when they offered a yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs well above advertised numbers. There was a very good attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, consequently competition was very keen, and there was practically a total clearance. The following prices were realised: —Springing heifers £5, £5 10s, £6 ss, £7, £8 to £9 2s 6d; dairy cows, £4, £4 10s to £6; empty cows, £3, £3 13s, £3 17s, to £4; yearling heifers, £2 10s, £2 12s to £2 16s; 2-year heifers £3 16s to £5; steer calves 28s to 355; 2-year steers £4 16s; springing heifers (late calvers) £2 13s to £3 6s; cow and calf £2 2s 6d, 15-months steers £3 Is, old store o®ws 355, yearling Holstein bulls £2 13s, £2 16s to £3 10s; bulls £4, £4 10s to £5 10s. Pigs: Weaners 13s, 13s fid, 15s 3d to 16s 3d; porkers 18s, 225, 22s 6d, 255, 29s 6d, 30s to 33s 9d.
