EVIDENCE IN COURT. QUADRADSTEIN'S STORY. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LONDON, Sept. 20. Tiie hearing of the case against Joseph Grizgard, Simon Silverman, and Leisir Gutwirth (Austrian Diamond dealers) and Jock Lockett (jeweller), charged on remand with being concerned in the theft of the pearl necklace, was continued at Mow-street Police Court. Quadradstein, under cross-exami-nation, said lie had known Butwirth for five .months. He secured his confidence in connection, with the necklace by pretending that he had sold stolen property previously. Quadradstein denied that his first intention was to buy the necklace, and that when he saw the pearls he concluded that they were too difficult to negotiate. He decided that it was safer to earn the reward. When interviewed', the prisoners locked the bedroom door. Quadradstein and Brandstatter carried loaded revolvers. They did not know if Grizgard and Silverman were armed. They did not hold the men up in the bedroom, but afterwards regretted that they had 1 allowed the necklace to go.

HORNE'S EVIDENCE. ADJOURNMENT OF THE HEARING. (Received September 20, 1 p.m.V LONDON, Sept. 19. In connection with the discoyery of the pearls, Home, the artisan who found them in a gutter at Highbury, testified that he saw a man and woman enter an omnibus near the spot. He did not see anybody drop the parcel. The hearing was adjourned till Wednesday.
