We have now a working face of ninq| chains' "wide, and this return was'won from about 3J chains on the south corner. The last return won from this.end of the cut was 27ozs»15dwts on the 14th of August, so the ground has improved considerably. At present, this part is the. roughest and hardest, ground we have to.dredge, therefore the turnover For the week is considerably less: than the balance of the cut, which at present ; is much easier ground to work than we have had for some considerable time. The south end is now well ahead and the face is now in a position to control the whole 1 of the 'gold bearing portion df the flat, ahd enables us to open out on either end if required.,!!! found when visiting your dredga|on Thursday the 4th everything in good running order and indications point that returns will be consistent and likely to improve."
