Bakewell, M.A., Inspector of Schools, will deliver an address before the Teachers' Institute at Masterton on Saturday next on "Ideals of Education." At a meeting of the Wairarapa branch of the Educational Institute, to be held in Masterton on Saturday next, the Bible-in-Schools question will be discussed, and other matters of interest to the branch, including the proposed, physical training camp for teachers. A Hastings telegram states that W. Grant, of the Rovers' Kautuki Club, was disqualified for life by the Rugby subruhion for striking an opponent and threatening a referee in the match at Dannevuice. versus Old Boys, for the Hawke'sw[p Challenge Shield, played last Saturday. The District Nurse Committee met in Masterton on Tuesday, Mr E. G. .Eton -.. presiding. The treasurer's statement showed that fees received for the month amounted to £ls 14s, and there! ~was >.« credit... balance *>f £6lB 16s lOd. The question of procuring a motor cycle for the use of Nurse Jones- is under consideration.

The hlock lies south, of Kaikoura on the line ©f the South Island Main Trunk railway. A curiosity in the shape of a white sparrow has been unearthed at Dannevirke. . A polo club has been formed in Masterton, and it is expected that by next winter the gamo will be in full swing throughout the Wairarapa. Mr W. R, Kemball, who has acted a 6 secretary of the Wairarapa Cricket Association for the past year, has tendered his resignation from that position. The quarterly meeting of the Foresters' Lodge will be held this evening. The Wellington District Officers will be present, and all members of Court Loyal Enterprise are requested to attend. A social will be held after court business. A Pahiatua .stock dealer informed an Age representative yesterday that the season in the Masterton distract is considerably ahead of that of Pahiatua. From a farming point of view, however, the season in the latter district promises to be one of the best on record. Keas are said to be plentiful onjthe stations this yeai . It was, however, possible to arrange manurial production of seed, • and; variety tests, which could be canned' out on five acres of land. The Department would provide seed and manure for one acre, and the experimenters, would require to find the balance.. Any class of seed could be utilised. Grass, tests might be made plots- of one-eighth of ah acre for eachi variety. On the motion of Mr Pteey,, it was decided that it be a recommendation to the Ground Commit-tee-that two acres of ground at Solway be put aside for the purpose of experiments in grass seeds. Mr BayMiss also suggested the carrying out of experiments on five acres of swedes., one acre for each plot, with' the previour.year's bulbs. The committee, he said, should make an endeavour .to have the various plots periodically inspected in order to maintain'the interest. A motion was carried in favour of the association procuring an area of land for the purpose of conducting "group"- experiments. Mr Bayliss gave many valuable hints regarding the cajrying-out of experiments, and a vote, of thanks to him for attending concluded the meeting.
