WEST COAST COAL.
IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTS. (By Telegrash.—Press Assifciaiion.) WESTPORT, Monday. Tho Stockton Coal, Company have just completed one and a half miles of electric railway to connect with their new coal fields, and their consulting engineer (Mr Ashley Hunter, M.1.0.E.), who has been down inspecting the work, expressed himself as quite confident of the prospects of the company. The quality of the coal in this new field is in every way the most promising the company has recently opened. , In development work and equipment about £12,000 has been spent, and the new field, which tapped a 500-acre block, is estimated to give an output satisfactory to the shareholders for thirty years, Avith a large extent of promised ground to be dealt with later on.
