PUBLICAN'S LICENSE.
INTERESTING JUDGMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, Last Night. In the Supreme Court, in an" action for writ of mandamus to compel Mr Florance, S.M., to hear the fapplieation of. J. R. Quin for a certificate of fitness to hold a publican's license", Mr "Justice Cooper held that Mr Florance took a reasonable view of the matter, two previeus applications in respect of different hotels having; been refused by Mr Barton, S.M. Regarding the contention that whilst the applicant might be an unsuitable licensee for a country hotel, Quin was fit to hold the license of a larger hotel in the centre of the town, the Judge expressed no opinion, but said it was open to the plaintiff to make a fresh flesh application to Mr Bartori. The motion was dismissed.
