Our Own Correspondent. Mr L. Aplin, chemist, has presented a set of chess pieces as an ,extra prize in the Carterton High School boys' chess tourney now in progress. Commissioner and Mrs Richards, territorial leaders of the Salvation Army in the Dominion, are to visit Carteiion on Tuesday next, A branch of the Good Templar Lodge is being formed in OarteTrtqn, and: a meeting is to be held on Wednesday evening, when the installation of "officers and initiation of other candidates will take place. The district 'fleputy-Chief Templar and officers of the Endeavour Lodge, Masterton, will attend to conduct the ceremony. The Wairarapa ladies' hockey team, which is representing this district at Wanganui, has up to Monday scored 33 goals without having a single goal scored against them. The goals have been scored "by the following members !of the team: "Miss Orr (13), Miss Grigg (8), "Miss Nielsen (6), Miss Hewson (4), Miss Z. Humphries (2). The Wairarapa players selected in the North Island team were: Misses C. Grigg, (j5. Humphries, and C. Terry. The Wanganui representative football team arrive in Carterton on Tuesday evening. On Thursday they will meet'Wairarapa.
