MOTOR-CAR SMASH.
.WELL-KNOWN GOLFER'S NAR- ■ , ~ ROW ESCAPE, {By Telegraph—Press Association.) : ■■ \ WANiGANUI,'-Last .Night.', As a motor-car containing' Arthur .-Duncan; Arthur Gillies, Harold Thomson, and Gronv'ill© Saunders, wellknown golfers, wasl proceeding to the golf links this morning a front wheel of the car side-slipped when the driver attempted to clear a dog in the main street. The spakes of the wheel broke, the tyre burst, and the car turned completely over. Duncan, Gillies, and Saunders, who were in the back seat, were thrown clear of the car, escaping with a few bruises. The driver of the car., a man named Carter, fell fairly on the side of his head inside the car anil was picked up unconscious. Thomson also fell on the side of his head, with the car-on top of him. Both nien were carried into neighbouring shops and medical aid was sofqght. The driver soon recovered consciousness, and Thomson also revived. The latter has strained the mustta of his arm. Apparently neither had bones broken, though the faces of both are mucjjcut about and the bodies bruised. The car was .smashed considerably.
