AND FROZEN MUTTON. THE HIGH COMMISSIONER SURPRISED. (Received Last Night/ 5.5 o'clock.) LOM-DON, Sept. 13Heferring to xne discarding off frozen mutton by the War Office, the Hon T. Mackenzie, High Comittksioner of New Zealand, asked the office if it was satisfied with genuine Mew Zealand mutton where it had been supplied as specified. If -so, he was. surprised at the War Office refusing to use it considering that New Zealand mutton and lamb was comingincreasingly into public favour. "He also asked whether the meat had fieeo properly treated when used for cooking purposes. The War Office has reduced the minimum weight of quarters of beef for «the Army, thus enabling contractors to supply Australian beef, which has hitherto been precluded from competition.
