A VIGOROUS STONEWALL. SOUSE SITS TILL MIDNIGHT ON SATURDAY. A vigorous "stonewall" wfis set up by the Opposition on, Friday night on; the Estimates. The vote for the Mines Department was put through at 12.4,5 a.m.. on Saturlay. '~ The Internal Affairs vote was then held up, a more or less acrimonious debate taking place- Time after time motions to report progress were put and lost. The 1 Chairman was relieved by Mr J. B. Hine, and resumed his seat again in the evening. All day long a wrangle continued over mental hospitals. At 11.50 p.m. the Prime Minister rose and protested Sgainst the silly and most unreasonable stonewall. He proceeded to review the events, of the preceding thirty hours, but was compelled to resume his seat on a point J of order raised, by Mr Wilford, who asked if j it were competent for the Premier to review the doings of the House on a motion to report progress. For ien minutes Mr Massey endeavoured to make his speech, , but every time he got started he was interrupted with "Point of order. Mr Chairman!" At one minute before midnight the Chairman ■ left the- chair, intimating that he would resume at 2.30 p.m. on Monday.
