AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION.
During the recess Mr. Edward Newman, member for Manawatu, visited Australia at the request of the Prime Minister, to investigate the subject of agricultural education. He has furnished a report in which, he recommeitdsr -fcho- ■tJov.en>:irwynrt--*©~»»«ovide an institution similar to the Hawkesbury College. This recommendation has already been approved by the Agricultural Conference and the Farmers' Union, and the Government should lose no time in setting up its Board' of Agriculture, in order that the project may be immediately put in hand. The question of providimg subsidiary agricultural schools will also have to be considered, and in this connection we believe that the suggesti6n of Mr G. M. Thomson that the Education and Agricultural Departments should collaborate on the matter -~is a very proper one. We hope to see something practical done within the next few months. .
