LONDON'S HIGH MORTALITY
Addressing the Medical Congress at London last week on the subject of public health (says a cable message to the Australian papers) Mr John Burns, President of the Local Government Board 1 , said that the present high mortality in London was due to the fact that increasingly large numbers of women were enteriug upon all phases of commerce and industry, and upon official and administrative life. They themselves 1 must realise that as far as their offspring are concerned, this fact would he attended with considerable disadvantage to the community and the race as a whole .
