A letter was received from the Wellington Harbour Board stating that a cheque lor £322: 6s : 3d had been received ifjrom the Public Trustee being the amount of sinking fund going towards reducing the Bannister Street loan of £2OOO, and intimating that the- Council's' principal indebtness was now £1,677 13s 9d|. A'communicatioriw-ds received from the Secretary of the ' New; Sports- Protection League asking-for information regarding the number of sports clubs or other bodies in Masterton receiving concessions under Clause 27 of the Rating Amendment Act! 1910, and the anount so rebated in rates, and the names of clubs or associations receiving such i emissions. A letter was received from Messrs Gawith and Logan asking-the Council to approve of a 12 foot .right-of-way on "a lease to iMessrs O. H. Perry anil Co. from Mr C. E..Darnell, nnd"it was resolved that the tamo be granted. Mr J. A. McEwen wrote in refer-ence-to the lowering of a. culvert in Chapel Street by the old Fish Ponds site, and it was resolved to forward the following resolution to the'owners: "That the Ouhcil has no intention of making the alteration at the present time, but is witling to lower the culvert as stated in!the previous letter, and upon the owners depositing the sum of £l6 13s 4d, being one third cost up to £SO, the Council will proceed with the work." " A letter was received* from Messrs Pinhey Bros, asking the Coun-'il to remove the lamp post in the centre of Queen Street opposite their stable entrances, and it was referred to the Gas Committee with recommendations from this Committee, "f they give it their favourable consideration. The Borough Engineer reported upon a request for water in Vivian Street, and it was resolved that the work be done and when the Waterworks Loan is oarrk'i that the cost of same be refunded back to Water account. Accounts totalling £1833 9s 3d were presented to be pased for payment and it was resolved that the same be passed and charged to the following accounts:—Gas £1173 9s lOd; General £459 19s sd. PARK AND LIBRARY.

A letter was received from the Aucklaid City Council, regretting that they could not sec. their way clear to allow Mr Pearson to visit Masterton and report upon a scheme for the Park improvements. A letter Avas received from Mr H. Kerr, Auckland, offering his services to formulate a scheme of beautifying the Park. It was resolved that the same be held over for further consideration and in the meantime the Town Clerk write to the Wellington City Council asking if they would allow their scenic* gardner to visit Mnsterton and report upon the.Park, and at what cost. It was resolved that the present steps to the grandstand be removed and placed on the eouth end of-the stand and thai the fence in front be removed and the grandstand painted. Acocunts totalling £27 9s Id were presented and recommended to the Finance Committee for payment.
