THE MANCHESTER FIRE.
HEAVY DAMAGE.
ESTIMATED ' AfT A QUARTER OB A MILLION. (Rooeived September 5, 8.30 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 4. The damage by the fire at the bonded store at Bridgewater Canal, Manchester, is estimated at £250,000.
The warehouse was gutter. Immense crowds watched the fire, the flames from which reached a height of 500 ft. The firemen had a heavy task in saving" the adjoining property. Three thousand bales of cotton, two thousand cases of print goods, and much general merchandise and oil were destroyed.
