s Jack Johnson, the pugilist, appeared in a sparring exhibition in an •open-air ring in the Rosherville Gardens, Gravesend. A crowd of five -hundred gave him a cordial rec&ption.
IN A MOTOR-CAR COLLISION.
(Received Sept. 5,12.15 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 4. , Starling, a taxi-cab driver, was 'charged at. the Westminster Police (P' Court with reckless driving. He collided with Jack Johnson-s motor--car. Johnson was badly injured in the back, and was unable to appear in Court, 'His wife escaped unhurt. Johnson, who was performing at the Gravesend music Hall, has cancelled ■his engagement*. ,
SUFFERS FROM SHOCK. '{Received Last Night, 7.10 o'clock.) LONDON, Sept. 5. Jack Johnson, who met with an accident, through, a taxi-cab colliding 'with his motor-car, states that he •wrenched his back, and suffered from nervdus shock.
