HOCKEY.

T.-P. SHIELD MATCH. The P. and T. hockey team successfully defended their right to hold the Thompson-Papno Shield by playing a draw with Excelsior at Lansdowne yesterday afternoon. The game needs little description. Both sides seemed to be suffering from lack of condition, and nothing of combined play was witnessed. The first spell was rather evenly contested, each forward division missing opportunities of sooring. Towards the end of the spell Picton scored a somewhat lucky goal for Excelsior, tho ball gliding off an opponent's stick into the net. In the second spell Excelsior had the best of the play, and only bad forward play prevented one or two scores from being registered. WJion the spell was nearing the close the P. and T. forwards set up a good rush, which resulted in R. Williams sooring from a pass from Jackson. The game ended shortly after, with P. and T. attacking, and the match a draw.

For P. and T. Clark and Acker man were the pick of the backs, although Hanley at stages of the game showed glimpses of true form. In the forward division Richards played a dashing game. For Excelsior, Scrimgeour and Williams proved a strong back combination. Lawrence was tho pick of the others.
