Mr Gordon E. S. McMinh, a son of Mr A. MoMinn, formerly of Masterton,, has beea' appointed manager of the Victorian Tribune, a paper published in Victoria by the Romany Catholic denomination. Mr 0. N. Broderick, Commissioner of Crown Lands, was a visitor to Masterton yesterday, Mr James Macintosh, formerly the head .of the Masterkm auctioneering firm of James Macintosh and Co., lias been elected Vice-President of the Wellington Chamber of Conrjieree. ' .Miss Hayward, matron of the Masterton Hospital? is at present on a visit to Westport. : Mr Robt. Pitcaithly, of Tawataia, left Eketahuna yesterday for Napier "to attend a meeting of directors of the Mangaone Oilwells, Ltd. Mr McEwen, the professional golf coach, is spending a few days with Mr Colin. Holmes, at Tiraumea. ~ • At. hi . .meeting of the Wairarapa Horticultural "and Industrial Society on Monday, feeling reference was made by the president to the death of Mr James Brown, a former honorary secretary and very enthusiastic supporter of the society, and the secretary was instructed to convey the society's condolences to the bereaved family. Mr Di Buick, M.P., denies a report that has gained currency to the effect that he does not intend becoming a candidate at the next election. He states that he will stand against all-comers. In its obituary remarks regarding Mrs A, E. Havelock Green, formerly of Masterton, the WaiKato Independent says: Mrs Green had been under a minor operation earlier in the day, and was to all appearance progressing quite satisfactorily, but at about 4 p.m. collapsed with tragic suddenness. Her sudden death came as an overwhelming calamity to Mr Green and his children. Mrs Green, who was 30 years of age, was widely known in various parts of the Dominion, and her decease will be deeply regretted by a wide circle of sorrowing friends.
