ESPIONAGE CHARGE.
FRENCH SERGEANT ARRESTED. 'Times'—'Sydney Sun! Special Cables. '■■". (Received Sept. 2; 8.30 a.m.) " PARIS, Sept. 1. A sergeant, Guiuo, has been arrested on charges of espionage. Correspondence was found in his lodgings showing that he had sent to officers of the Austria l and German armies .most important documents and photographs of the most recent French artillery. Guiuo is a qualified engineer, well educated, and speaks several languages'. His arrest was the result of his close friendship with a private of his regiment, who deserted after the J disappearance of some gun parts. ; Amongst other secrets allegedly of- j fered; if not sold, to a foreign Gov-1 enraent was a new range-finder.
