/CANADA is a dark cheatnuthoree, standing 15.25, having immense quality, combined with great substance and power, standing on a clean, wiry set of legs. CANADA has a respectable reoord on the turf, starting in fire races and winning three. His racing career was ended through an accident to his shoulder. CANADA'S Dam Alumini (II.), is by Patron (V.), Melbourne Cup winner, carrying 9et 31b. Finland (IV.) by Bill of Portland (XXVI.) son of St. Simon (II,), from Fishwife. _ Finland is a sire of Bobrikoff, Lapland, Nyland, Vasa, Chief Lochiel, Heleanthus, White Cockade, Scotch Plaid, and other winners. Bobrikoff won the G. G. Stead Memorial Cup, 1J mile, in 2.7, carrying 9.0; the C.J.C. Handicap, 1 mile, in 1.39, carrying 9.0; Auckland Plate, 1$ miles; the Porangahau Handicap, 6 furlongs, in 1.14, calry 9.11; Islington Plate, Auckland, 1 mile, in 1.38 4-6—a New Zealand record; also important races in Australia. Canada belongs to the No. 11 Sire Family, whose representatives include St. Simon, Qrme, Fisherman, Soult, etc. Maple Leaf, a 3-yr-old filly by Can-ada-—Sweet Nell, ran second to Pleasure Bent in the Tarawera Hack Handicap (6 furlongs) at the Akaroa County Racing Club's meeting, the time, being Imm losec.
