CHINESE REVOLT.
REBELS ATTACK GERMAN WARSHIP. A FORT SILENCED. (Received August 28, 1 p.m.) BERLIN, August 27. Rebels at Wufou (a treaty port 55 miles south-south-east of Nankin) attacked the cruiser Emden with cannon and rifles. The Emden replied with twenty-five rounds, silencing the fort. ENTRY OF NANKIN. TROOPS REPULSED. (Received Last Nigbit 11.20 o'clock.) PEKING, August 28. Although the surrender and entry of Nankin was arranged and officially announced, the Government troops, on approaching, were repulsed at three gates. The bombardment was renewed, and many shells foil in the thickly-populated parts. Some troops crossed the river, cutting off the food supply.
