Very satisfactory nominations have been received for the Dannevirke. Racing Club's Steeplechase meeting. Local stables will be represented by Alecto, Conziska, Top Note, and Piermont. The two first mentioned figure in the Umataroa Hack Handicap, Top Note in the Spring Handicap, and Piermont in the Hack Welter. ' i Top Note has wintered" very well, and bears a greatly improved appearance. Her traiiier is of opinion that the mare will trace better over a distance, and all going well meanwhile, (she will start in the Spring Handicap (1| miles) at Dannevirke. Alecto is another local mare that has done well during the winter. If started at Dannevirke R. Hatch will probably ride the Sir Laddo mare. Full Rate is entered in the Hack Hurdles at Dannevirke. The Officer gelding is reported to He showing proficiency .over the small-sticks. The two-year-old Achilles—Sonoma filly in J. Phillips' stable is coming to hand nicely, and will soon be put into active commission. A daily visit to the tracks constitutes this ladylike youngster's task at present.

Sir Solo is being- kept up to his work on the local tracks. The Wellington Cup winner does not appear to carry so much condition as usual.

The Conqueror gelding Conziska i 6 striding out freely in his work', and should run prominently at the Dannevirke fixture. *

W. Price was up on Yankee Doodle in the latter's winning effort at the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club meeting. The Wairiki—Golden Rose gelding is entered in the New Zealand Cup, which seems a far cry from a hack race at a hunt Meeting.

C. Price, who was recently granted a license' after a spell of twelve months, was in the pigskin at the game meeting. At a recent meeting of the Danne-virke-Racing Club," Mr --9!;' H. 0. Lloyd presented an enlarged photograph oNthe finish of the now memorable Telephone Hack Handicap at the club's March meeting, 1912, which saidi photograph, and what it disclosed, was responsible for the absence from the saddle, for more than 12 months, of Hector Gray, who was riding Miss Augusta in the race, and which was beaten. It is not stated whether a copy of the photo was also sent to Hector Gray.

The Dannevirke Racing Club has a membership of 200, an increase of 70 on last year's figures.

The Peilding Jockey Club is effecting improvements on the course, costing about £IOOO. Nothing further has been heard a? to whether Mr C. F. The Te'Kuiti Racing Club have increased the stakes for their annual meeting by £llO. - The ex-amateur horseman A. Gordon 1 , who has ridden Dorando- in his winter engagements, has taken out a jolfcey's license;. Wprd from Sydney states that Solution has foaled twins to the imported horse Karlston.
