FIGHT OVER WOOL SCHEDULE.
BILL UNDULY FAVOURS BRITAIN.
(Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) WASHINGTON, August 23. The fight over the wool schedule has begun in the Senate. The Republicans are strongly objecting to the proposed reductions. Two Senators spoke for six hours, characterising the Tariff as-a political one, instead of a democratic. They claimed that* it was being introduced for revenue purposes only. L Senators Penrose and Lafayette proposed alterations in the Bill, but the Democrats refused to discuss them.
Senator "Penrose claimed that - the Bill unduly favoured Britain. To Britishers he said the measure actually seemed too good to be trne.
