THE BUILDING OF DEFENDERS. (Received August 18, 8.5 a.m.) NEW YORK.-August 17. Three syndicates, hea'ded by Messrs Vanderbilt, George Pynchon, and A. Cochran.,< haye been formed with the object- ofUtSulding defenders of the America Cfup. The New York Club firmly refuses to sign with Sir Thomas Lipton (the challenger) an agreement that the Clip defender shall not exceed a de? finite size. It is understood 1 , however, that the members of the syndicates have agreed that the size of the defenders shall be approximately that which Sir Thomas Lipton'a challenge specifies.
