Xhir Own Correspondent. The Hope of Carterton Tout .-.lf Rechabites celebrated their 30th anniversary on Thursday evening with a banquet. There was a very large gathering of brethren and their friends, Bro. T. Fathers, district secretary, presiding. A very taety spread was prepared by Mrs A. L. Whyte, to which full justice was done, after which a toast list as follows, was honoured: "The King," chairman; "Hope of Carterton Tent," Bro. Fathers—Bro. D. T. King; "Mayor and Borough Councillors," Bro. C. Downard—Mr F. Feist (Mayor) ; "Kindred Societies," Bro. W. H. Whyte—-Messrs H. Davis (Foresters\ H. Barlow (Druids), S. Bairstow (Oddfellows), Bro. Minifie (Masterton Rechabites); "N.Z. Central District," Bro. Partridge—Bro. Fathers; "The Ladies," Bro. W. Stevens—Mrs T. J. Rathbone; "The Sick and Distressed," Bro. J. Preddy. During the evening songs were contributed by Misses E. Armstrong, S. .Whyte, Messrs H. Bick, J. Preddy and Mr G. A. Fairbrother contributed a recitation. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a pleasant gathering to a close. The local branch of the Wairarapa Egg Circle on Friday despafohed 250 dozen eggs to its Wellington agent. Mr J. Gregan has disposed of his interest in his farm at Clareville, to Mr Hitrley, and will leave shortly for the Waikato district, where he will most likely settle upon the land.
