WAIRARAPA PRESBYTERY.

81-MONTHLY MEETING. The Presbytery of the Wairarapa met in Knox Hall on Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. G. K. Stowell, Moderatoi', presiding. Present—The Revs. & C. Tenoentj M. B. Harris, L. Thompson and A. T. Thompson (clerk), with Messrs E. Feist,. G. Bruce, M. McGregor, H. T.„ Wood, J. Wingate, elders; and Mr Bloomfield, Home Missionary, of Pongaroa.

The Rev. G. K. Stowell was appointed Moderator, through the resignation of the Rev. J. S. Young, and commissions were received in favour of Mr J. Wingate to represent South Wairarapa, and Mr Bloomfield to represent Pongaroa. Correspondence was received from Professor Hewitson, and from Rev. F. H. Spencer, suggesting an interdenominational missionary conference for Australasia in connection with the centenary celebrations of the arrival of Marsden in New Zealand, and suggesting the inviting of Dr. «[ohn R. Motf on such an: occasion. Correspondence was also received from Sir Walter Buchaaian and the secretary of the Masterton Sunday School.

On the motion of the Rev. L. Thompson, the hour of meeting was changed from 12.45 to 10.30 a.m.

The Rev. M. B % Harris was appointed corresponding member of the Sabbath Observance Committee and Presbytery -reporter to "The Outlook."

[Reports were received from the Home Mission stations of Pongaroa and Eketahuna, tlie former being especially gratifying. It was recommended that the Home Mission Committee make a grant of £3O each per annum to Pongaroa and Eketahuna. The report of the treasurer of the Presbytery showed a credit balance of £l2 15s lid after all .disbursements had been made. The Evangelistic Committee reported that arrangements had been made for securing ll;e services of Mr McKenderick to conduct evangelistic services throughout the charges of the Presbytery, beginning in October. Mr McKenderick comes highly commended, and will conduct a ten days' mission in Masterton at the beginning of December. It wa« resolved that a commission of the Presbytery visit the parishes of Masterton and Carterton on September 9th and 10th respectively. Reports were received from various parishes of moneys raised for the support by the Presbytery of a missionary in China or India as its special representative on the foreign field. Two remits from the General Assembly concerning a scheme for the "Transference of Ministers" and "Ordination of Home Missionaries," were considered. The Presbytery adjourned, to meet in Knox Hall, on Tuesday, October 14th, at 10.30 a.m.
