THE SHANNON-EKETAHUNA TRACE. At the meeting of the Horowhenua County, Council on Saturday,.a letter was received from the Eketalmn;i County Council asking the Horowhenua County Council to use its influence with a view to 'having a survey made and a road or track formed where the Waiwera-Tokc-maru stock track is, and to -bring the matter under the notice of ..the' member for the district. Tl-3 letter stated that the roal woi'.-l bo of imrne:Ke odvartage for th tp. rpcee of interchange of stock, as only a matter of eight miles separated the formed and metalled roads of the two counties. When the matter came up for discussion the chairman' (Cr. Stephenson) stated that he did not know of the track as the Waiwera-Toko-maru track, hut as the ShannonEketahuna track. An agitation had been going on by the settlers on the other side for the track. He asked the Coiincil to leave the matter to him, as he was going to Wellington next week to the Counties' Conference, and could there meet the. chairman of the Eketahuna Council and other bodies .concerned in the matter, and after a discussion could get the member for the district to approach the Government for the survey. The chairman's suggestion was agreed to.
