;->■'CHARGES OF BLACKMAIL, v 'Times'—'Sydney Sun' Special Cables. (Received August 12, 8.30 a.m.) PARIS, August 11. An administrative inquiry has been opened into allegations against seven plain-clothes police, on charges of hav;ing blackmailed tradesmen in regard to imaginary breaches of regulations. It is also allegied that the men gratified private vengeance by arresting tanocent people in return for money.
