Of thirty thousand inhabitants, only two hundred reached the railway station. A terrible loss of life is feared. The line is submerged for fifteen miles, cutting off communication. Miles of country are flooded. . Thousands are homeless and starving, their houses being washed away and cattle destroyed. - '
