A PLEASING CEREMONY.
. PRESENTATION TO MR J. B. MOODIE. A pleasing, little ceremony took place at the meeting of the Master-; ton* Ai and»P. Association oh Saturday afternoon. The retiring Presi--dent (Mr Hugh Morrison) stated that it was with very great pleasure that he made a presentation to Mr J. B. ; Moodie, on the occasion of his leaving the district, on behalf of the: members of the Association. For the last nine or ten years Mr Moodie had been an active member of the, committee. As a member of -the .fin", apce" committee he .'had rendered' great assistance ait a time ivhela it was.most required, The service's of business, men were much needed on their committee, and in matters of finance they were greatly appreciated. Mr Moodie had also dona good work as treasurer of the Associa-, tion. He came; here about ten years ago as the first manager for Messrs Dalgety and C 0... The 'husrh ness had so extended under his management, that they had, now one of, th© most iin-to-da*e"». offices* fisaA. the largest staffs in the town. A»*-a : citizen, Mr Moodie bad taken a greatinterest in public affairs, and hrid been actively associated with varioils forms of sporty Should ho ever re-,, turn to Masterton he would r.e.ceivp''* a hearty welcome from members nf the Association. (Applause.) He had- pleasure in presenting a manicure set for Mrs Moodie arid a set of safety razors for Mr Moodie. • o*l behalf of the Association he wished Mr and Mrs Moodie every "succors. He expressed the hope that Mr Moodie would be as successful in his new appointment as he had been in Masterton. (Apnlause.V Mr JVB. He had been a member of the Association for ton years, .and of, the committee for nine, and he looked back with pleasure at his association with such a splendid lot of settlers. When the movement was marta in the direction of shifting the showgrounds, "he felt doubt as to its wisdom. He gave way to the opiniou of older members, howevor, and he was now satisfied that these members were absolutely right. They had shown tliemselvss not only energetic, but far-seeiug, and the new grounds were n .monument, to the'Y sound judgment. He congratulated Mr O. 0. Coop°i\ upon his appointment to .the presidency. They had been opponents in business, but he had always found Mr Crxipsr an cnprKotie and .straightforward man.
