THE HOME PORTS. CONTEMPLATED - [MROVEMENTS "While speaking of London," said Mr J. C. Cooper in his address in Masterton yesterday, "you will no doubt be interested to learn that the London Port Authorities have at last let a contract amounting to £400,000 for improvements, chiefly to the Royal Albert Dock, and a large portion of this expenditure is in the interest of the frozen meat trade. This appears to be the result of the efforts of the North Island freezing Companies' Association, of which Mr W. Foster (managing director of the Export Company), is chairman, and to whom the thanks of all those engaged in the industry are due, as he has worked hard for years past with the object, of improving matters in London. We should not overlook the efforts of Mr Lysnar also in this matter. Anything that can be done to improce the conditions under which our meat is handled at the port of destination means improving the value of the article."
