WAIRARAPA RUGBY UNION.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. Tho usual fortnightly mooting of the above was held at Carterton on Saturday evening, Mr A. Booth presiding. Correspondence was received and dealt with as follows: — ; From N.Z. Rugby Union, regretting their inability to grant a larger amount than last season to Wairarapa for the raoouragement of school football, ae the total amount allotted had been already applied for. Also a circular letter from tho same, enclosing a list of disqualifications imposed upon players by various unions, and further, forwarding the rulings of tho English Rugby Union with regard to the reinstatement of players of the League game. From secretary of the Wairarapa Harriers' Club, returning passes not used in connection with the recent championship run, and thanking the union for assistance rendered towards same. From A. Schofield, Whareama subunion, with reference to the match Wairarapa jnniors v Whareama, at Masterton, next Saturday. All .matters in connection with same were left to the local delegates. Mr B. Chapman was appointed referee in this match. From Carterton and Dalefield Clubs, enclosing lists of junior playera to take part in the Pearson Cup contest. From Busy Rugby Union, stating that they \voul«{ be willing to meet Wairarapa juniors on Thurday, August 14th, at Eketahuna, and Wairarapa seniors at Pahiatua on the §th, ,16th. or 23rd August.r—Decided to inform Bush Union that ths invitation was to send their juniors to. iueekng*. From Marlborough Rugby Union, asking for information re the amount of probable gate if they decided to send their junior representative team to Wairarapa.—Supplied by secretary. Also from same union, agreeing to send a senior representative team to pliy in Wairarapa on Thursday, August 21*>t, on condition that Wairarapa would repay the visit the next season. —Decided to accept the date and conditions.
From Dalefield Club, protesting aaginst the win of Carterton juniors in the Pearson Cup match, on the ground that one potted goal allowed by the referee touched a player's hand, as well as having been punted over the goal.—After hearing the referee and other evidence, the protest was not tipheld, as, according to the Rugby By-laws, the referee is the Bole judge in all matters of fact. A request" from the Dalefield Club that the matter be referred to the New Zealand Rugby Union for their ruling was granted. From 0. Ross, stating he would be unable to take part in the North v. South match, pjayed at Carterton last Saturday, owing to illness. From Manawatu Rugby Union, stating that as their championship fixtures had finished earlier than expected, they would be pleased if this union would agree to altering the date of their match in Wairarapa to earlier in tho season. —The secretary was instructed to inform Manawatu that the 16th or 23rd of August would suit this union, the latter date for preference. From A. Golder and F. Brough (United Club), B. Abbott (Dalefield Club), and H. Henderson (Gladstone Club), declaring on the insurance fund.
Prom Haivke's Bay Rugby Union, agreeing to Saturday, August 16th, for a match with Wairarapa juniors at Napier. Mr Waterson was appointed manager of the team. From Mr W. Redmond, Carterton, stating that lie would donate a cup for competition among the senior teams, on somewhat similar lines to the Pearson Junior Cup. The competition to be open to all senior teams in Wairarapa, on challenge cup Conditions, CartertGu seniors *o he the first defenders, all profits arising from matches to go to the. Rugby Union's insurance fund.—Mr Redmond was accorded a hearty vote of thanks, and a committee, consisting of Messrs E. McKenzie, A. Booth and W. Waterman was appointed to raieet Mr Redmond and cJraw u p conditions governing the competition for trophy. The protest from Red Star oub against Dalefiekl third-class team for having played juniors in that grade without permission of the union, which was held over from last meeting, was upheld, and the match awarded to Red Star 111. Decided to inform the Carterton Club that, according to rules governing same, they must now (as holders) accept the challenge oft Red Star juniors to a match for the Pearson Cup. Accounts amounting to £22 16s 6'd were passed for payment.
