A Sydney cable states that', Mr ,R. H. Moodlin, of Christchurch, has been elected a member of the Commercial and Education Committee of the Sydney Chamber of Commerce. / The remains of the late Mr Charles MeKillop were interred in the Mastertou cemetery jesterday afternoon. Tho funeral cortege was very lengthy, and included many of the old settlers of the district, by whopx the doeeased waa held in very . spool. , The ceremony at the grave was performed by the Rev. Father Harnett. ' A very pleasant function took in St. Matthew's schoolroom On Thursday evening, when members of St. Matthew's choir and friends tendered a farewell social to Mrs F. H. Sutton on the eve of her departure far the north. The vicar (Rev. EL Watson) presided over the gathering, and interesting competitions were indulged in. The choir render the part wong "Moonlight/' and musical items were contributed by iMiss Allen, MiSs M. Townsend, Mr H. F. Green add others. , During the evening Mrs Sutton .was tho recipient of a set of handsomely-bound books, tuitably inscribed. The death of Mr H. Wynn Williams, caretaker of she thermal reserve at Whakarewarewa, occurred in tho Government Sanatorium at Rotorua yesterday. Deceased, who was about 50 years of age, was well known in Wellington, having resided in that city for many years. Some years ago he was a prominent footballer.
