A Sydneycable, received this morning, states that Sir William Lyne is seriously ill. Mr T. Lowes, of Ashurst, wli> is a brother of the late Mr "William Lowes, of Mastcrton, has been_ seriously indisposed of late, but is "•<?- ported to have taken a turn for t-'ie better. Mr F; S. Tocker, late of the Wai; - rapa, died at Te Horo, Otaki, yesti - day, at the age of 45 years. JB.a had been in ill-health for a considerable time. ... /Mr P. 0. Webby the ne* member for Grey, was sworn in yesterday afternoon in the House -of Representatives. His sponsor?* werfe Messrs Bayne and Roberteoiou , V Mr H. Sakit. George, examiner for the Board of Trinity College of Music, (London), who \?as in New Zealand about four years ago, arrived in Auckland from Vancouver on Tuesday. He ie again to supervise the board's annual examinations in Now Zealand, and will visit Masterton in duo course. A Press Association message from AticMand states tHt Mr O. J, Haselden for many yea; ; Under-Secretary of Justice and Registrar of Patents, died suddenly on Tuesday from heart failure. The deceased, who was 78 years of age, arrived in New Zealand in iB6O, and in the south, principally at "Wellington, until about 1875. The many friends in the Masterton district of Mr and Mrs A. G. Pilmer will learr with deep regret of the death of their second eon, Robert Douglas, which occurred at Dunedin on Wednesday evening. •. The deceased, who was twenty-three years of age, had been ailing for a considerable time. His remains will be interred at Masterton. During the last few days Mr Kilmer has suffered | a double blow, his mother having | died only last •week.
