THE SMALL-POX OUTBREAK

TIP THE WANGANUI RIVER. (By Telegraph,—-Press Association.) WANGANUI, Last Night. After a vaccination crusade, and an inspection of the Maori pahs up the Wanganui River, Dr Mackenzie returned to town to-day. During his tour, between 700 and 800 natives were vaccinated, the lymph being very effective. One old Maori, living about forty-three miles up the river, was isolated as a suspected small-pox case.

LAST NIGHT'S BULLETIN. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The following small-pox bulletin was issued by the Health Department to-night: "Dr Frenley reports the total number of patients in the hospital at Auckland as fifty-nine, of whom fourteen are Europeans. The number of deaths to date is twelve. "Two additional deaths have been reported from Mangatautau. *'There is nothing special to report from the Bay of Islands and other outlying districts. ■ Fuller information is expected to-morrow."
