THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES. "THE DEVIL'S DAUGHTER." Another goodly audience was pieseat last evening at the T.P. Electric Theatre, when the current change again received an excellent hearing. The star drama, "The Devil's Daughter" proved very popular. Gabriel is a young sculptor, and is engaged to Carmen, a dharming young lady of some seventeen summers. The heiress, Adrien Leefer, a new development erf the Vampire or the Sorceress, eees Gabriel's portrait in one of the daily papers and, being as unscrupulous as she is. beautiful, she determines to acquaint herself with the sculptor. This she eventually does, and it ia not long before he is deeply in love with her. Little Carmen is heart-broken, and Dr Manuel, who was in lore with Adrien, is distracted. Several days elapse, and then Adrien is seen setting a bulldog on some strolling players. The canine bites the leg of :a little girl, a member of tho troupe, and the party leave, vowing vengeance. A few minutes later they are mit-iide Carmen's house, and the child's plight is noticed by the girl. She helps the little one in and sends for u doctor. He arrives in the person of Manuelj who is struck with the tender administration of Carmen. Taking advantage of the presence of bis patient, the doctor calls again and again, and the obvious end is that he falls in love. Gabriel and Adrien get trapped in the la iter's home and are burned to death, mule from afar Carmen and her new lover gaze oh the destructions of the home of "The 'Devil's ' Daughter." "The "Fisher Monoplane" exhibited a clever New Zealand invention whilst the balance of the programme in ajl respects was excellent. Other subjects were: "A Business Man's Wife" (dramaV "The Open Switch" (drama), "The Dumb Man" (drama) and "A Comedy of Errors," "Polidor's Nightmare" and "Irresistible Evolution." Patrons will be afforded a final opportunity of seeing this series to-night.

"A courtTintrigue." mp*\ Since the pictures were resumed in the Town Httll by the Masterton Picture and Entertainment Company, large audiences have been recorded, and last night was no exception, when the Town Hall was filled to witness the second screening of the «Nordisk Company's masterpiece "A "Court Intrigue." The picture is full of stining incidents and enthralling situations, and received unstinted applause from last night's audience. A picture that is as beautiful as it is well produced is the Pathe coloured drama, "Trouville,"'showing happy mermaids dipping and playing iu fhe sea, and a glance at the Bungalow near by discovers trim, of flowers, covered with gay 'blossoms of red and yellow, while the velvet green lawns are stretched to bmks,pf. green shrubs. "The Price of Jealousy" is a Lubin war drama, full of incident; and a laughing comedy is "Planting the Spring Garden," showing Mr and Mrs Citiman deciding to follow the example of their neighbours, and have a garden. Mr Citfiman arrives home from the city loaded with garden utensils and flower seeds. His better half makes him jvork very I hard, and refuses to let him -stop, although he employs all the most ingenious schemes to shirk. "The Opening of a Flower''' is a. Bathe educational film, and "Siinple Simon on the Warpath" a Gaumont production of an exceptionally funny nature. The Gaumont Graphic "is full of the latest doings of the outside world. This programme .will be repeated for the last time this evening, and a splendid programme is announced for Friday next. "THE NIGHT SIDE OF LONDON." The influence of the church has often been considered is its relation to the stage, and to-day this influence is being utilised by dramatist* to point to a moral. .C. Watson Mill, author of "The Night Side of London," to be produced by George Marlow's new dramatic combination for the first time here at the Town Hall on Thursday evening next, works o* this theme with such an effect that the drama bias proved a success wherever played. "The Night Side of London," "among other things, trenches on the white slave traffic -in England. The Anglican "Lishops of London and Manchester, the Roman Catholic Bishop of Salford, and the Chief Rabbi in England have given the subject their earnest attention and their work was greatly aided by the drama. It is full of sensational incidents, cleverly evolved and admirably interwoven, with clean wholesome comedy. The gitory deals with the fight of a girl,' who has to make her way in London alone* The many temptations and obstacles in her path are realistically depicted. "The Night Side of London" will be handsomely staged, forth e Mallow management are sending the complete production as seen by Sydney and Melbourne audiences. Among many scenes are a gorgeously decorated interior of the Night Club in London, crowded with visitors and gorgeous costumes and servants in rich liveries. The box plan for this production will be opened at the Dresden this morning, and day sale tickets w'iK be on sale at the same addresss.
