THE RAILWAY DEPUTATION.
The deputation of delegates from Wairarapa local bodies which will proceed \o Wellington on Thursday, will require to be particularly careful lest they display a lade of unanimity on the points at issue. If, for instance, one sectagn of the delegates advocates the(, deviation of the Rimutaka from Wood'side and another from somewhere else; if one section asks for light line railways and another for a main arterial railway, the Minister will probably find an excuse for further deferring action. If, on the other hand, the representative deputation from the Wairarapa, backed by Wellington city, goes to the Minister and .says, "We want a deviation of the Rimutaka railway and the opening -up of the East Coast, and we expect you to. at once appoint a Commission of' experts"®#) define the routes," something definite may be expected. Above all, the deputation must be unanimous in its request.
