GENERAL SIR HARRY PREMDERGAST. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) LONDON, July 26. The death is announced of General Sir Harry Prendergast, K.C.8., at the age f seventy-nine years. [The late. Sir Harry Prendergast was born in India. He entered the military eervice in 1854, and served in the Persian War, Malwa Field Force, Central India Field Force, and Abyssinian War. He commanded the expedition that resulted in the annexation of Upper Burmah. He also commanded the Madras Sappers and Miners for ten years, and acted as Quarter-Master General of the Madras Army, and Secretary to the Military Government in India. He rendered valuable service i;i India, for which he was thanked by the late Queen Victoria and the Indian Government. He was twice severely wounded, and was mentioned in many despatches, besides receiving the Victoria Cross and other decorations. He-was made a General in 1887.]
